Today’s look is a black floral kaftan dress outfit.
Black floral prints are a favourite of mine to wear. They always seem to be the most flattering and love that they can be worn all year round too.
I recently bought this dress from Laura Ashley. Sadly it is in the closing down sale as they have recently gone into administration. I was really sad to hear this as I have followed the brand for my whole life. As a child I would be looking into the window of the store when we passed, dreaming of one day having a pretty house with Laura Ashley floral decor. As a teenager I got my first part time job in a Laura Ashley store in the clothing department and I loved working there so much until I had to leave to go off travelling and most recently here on the blog I have featured them many times in my outfit posts and have written over on the Laura Ashley blog too so it was a real shock to hear they were closing down like many businesses that have been affected in the recent times.
The Laura Ashley brand is truly a piece of British history starting in the 1950s when Laura Ashley herself and her husband Bernard started printing fabrics from her kitchen table to make fabrics for her patchwork quilts as she couldn’t find any suitable fabrics in the shops. Then shortly after moving on to head scarves, inspired by the Audrey Hepburn film Roman Holiday and a trip to Italy. In 1950 they opened a London showroom which then developed onto the Laura Ashley brand that we know now.

I styled the dress with some pink sandals and a khaki coloured bag. I absolutely love this dress, I think it may have now sold out but I did notice they had a blouse in the same print. I really love the flattering fit and not sure if you can see from the photos but it has a tiny pom pom trim around the neckline and sleeves. I finished off the look with some new sunglasses that were kindly sent from Layoners. They have some lovely styles.
I hope you like the look and let me know your thoughts as always in the comments section below.
