Today I’m sharing with you what I feel to be the 10 must have items in my wardrobe for the colder weather. These items I feel that I cannot go without and form the basis of all of my outfits.
1. Warm Winter Coat
This is such a must have in my eyes. I feel that everyone needs a casual warm winter coat for going out and about in the cold weather. Here in the UK, it rains a lot and can get very cold so I could not do without my Zara Feather Quilted Coat this winter. I rarely go out in the evening, and being a mum, this type of coat fits my lifestyle the most but if you do attend more events you would obviously need a dressier alternative.
Dressier and smarter versions include a fur or camel coat. There are no rules; whatever fits with your everyday life.
2. Blazer or jacket
It’s always a good idea to have a blazer on hand for dressing up a casual outfit to give a smarter look or if you need something a little smarter for the office. I mostly work from home but I love the polished look a blazer can bring to a simple casual outfit. The one below was a recent purchase from Zara.

In the spring, I was loving the yellow Zara blazer.

3. Button Down Shirt
Can be worn with so many outfits casual or dressy. I think this is a staple for many people. I love the Zara White Twill Shirt in the picture below. I think it looks clean and crisp paired with my checked Vivienne Westwood handbag and red shoes.
Or maybe a printed version if you like wear something a little more fun like this Crown Printed Boden Shirt!

4. A Casual T-Shirt Or Breton Striped Top
I love striped T-shirts and they always look stylish in my opinion. They are classic and will never date. If you like something with a little print you will love the Joules Harbour Printed Striped Top in my outfit below.
Or a plain darker striped look with the Zara Organic Cotton Striped Tee.
And here I recently showed my Boden Long Sleeved Long Line Breton with a navy blazer.
Or if you don’t like stripes, a plain colour. I have been wearing this plum coloured long sleeved tee.

5. Jeans
I always love to have jeans or really casual trousers to wear in the day that can also be worn with a heel and made to look more dressy. I have many pairs of jeans and am showing you a few pairs below.
Or if you don’t like the denim look, there are waxed jeans like the Boden High Waisted Super Skinny which I love.
6. Ankle Boots
Ankle boots are my go-to daytime footwear of choice. I wear them with everything from jeans to dresses! I loved wearing the Boden Boho Boots so much I have almost worn them out now!

7. A Dress for all occasions
It’s always a good idea to have a dress that you could wear dressy or casual. My choice is WoolLand Norway Bukkehoi Merino Wool Dress. I have worn it with so many casual outfits so far and have also dressed it up for a night out with heels and a wrap.
Or if you don’t like black you could try a burgundy, navy or grey. The below is my burgundy option of the Zara Fitted Dress.
8. Heels or dressy flats
Heels can instantly transform an outfit from day to evening or from casual to smart. If you can’t wear heels, there are many great flat alternatives that can be worn day or night.
9. A pencil skirt
It can be any skirt really but my choice is a pencil skirt as I find them the most figure flattering on me and can be worn in so many ways whether for an office look or an evening out or even with some flats or boots for a daytime look. I recently showed you my new Faux Suede Midi Skirt in Khaki. There is also a plain black stretch skirt and a floral pencil skirt look.
10. A good classic bag that will not go out of style
I feel like having a classic bag is a must have for all. It doesn’t matter what brand or price you pay but having that bag that fits into your lifestyle and can be used for almost everything is so good! I mainly use my bags in the day so I usually spend my money on good quality daytime bags. For someone that goes out to many night events may wish to invest in a special evening bag. It all depends on what fits into your lifestyle.
